Burgundy
Hidden Treasures

As with all Papillon tours, comfort and location are our first concerns. Our Burgundy Food and Wine weeks cater to private parties of six to ten, and are based in the heart of the Auxois region, halfway between Beaune and Chablis. For sophistication, we have Dijon and Auxerre. As for the country life, don’t forget your wellies! There are goat’s cheese farms and foie gras production and all the head of Charollais that you care to count. And we’re right on the edge of the Morvan region whose organic products make their way to the market towns of Avallon and Saulieu.

While the rest of France heads for sweltering beaches in July and August, Burgundy enjoys its idyllic season. An hour and ten minutes by TGV from the center of Paris, Burgundy is pastoral tranquility, literally making hay. The roads are free of the tourist crush, the weather is usually a low-humidity mid-80s, and up on our bluff overlooking the Auxois there is a prevalent breeze.
